FAQs
Is an MBA right for me if I'm already experienced?
Yes. Our MBA is designed for experienced professionals who have already built careers and are looking to progress into more influential leadership roles. Many students join the programme because they want broader strategic, commercial and leadership capability to support their next career move. Rather than starting over, they're building on the experience they already have.
I'm already successful in my career. Why would I need an MBA?
Many professionals reach a point where technical expertise and experience are no longer enough to progress. An MBA helps you develop a broader understanding of strategy, finance, leadership, operations and organisational performance, giving you the confidence and capability to operate at a more senior level.
Will this MBA help me progress into senior leadership roles?
The programme is designed for professionals seeking greater responsibility, leadership influence and organisational impact. Students commonly choose an MBA to prepare for director-level positions, leadership roles, strategic responsibilities and opportunities to lead change within their organisations.
Can I study while working full-time?
Yes. Our MBA is specifically designed for working professionals. Many students balance study alongside full-time careers, leadership responsibilities and family commitments. The flexible online format allows you to continue progressing professionally while earning your MBA.
How much time should I expect to commit each week?
What makes this MBA different from other business qualifications?
An MBA focuses on developing broad leadership and business capability rather than expertise in a single subject area. You'll build strategic understanding across finance, marketing, operations, leadership and organisational decision-making, helping you understand how businesses work as a whole and preparing you for wider responsibilities.
Is this MBA practical or theoretical?
Our MBA places a strong emphasis on application. You'll engage with business simulations, real-world challenges, workplace-focused projects and a Strategic Business Project that allows you to apply your learning to an issue relevant to your organisation, industry or career goals.
Who will I study with?
You'll learn alongside experienced professionals from a wide range of industries and backgrounds. This diversity creates opportunities to share perspectives, learn from others' experiences and build relationships with professionals facing similar leadership challenges.
What are the MBA pathways?
After completing the core MBA modules, you can choose to personalise your qualification through one of three pathways:
- AI and Digital
- Marketing
- FinTech
You can also choose to remain on the general MBA route if you prefer a broader leadership qualification.
Do I need to choose a pathway when I apply?
No. You'll complete your core MBA modules first and choose your pathway later in your studies. This gives you time to experience the programme and decide which direction best aligns with your professional goals.
What is the benefit of choosing a pathway?
A pathway allows you to combine broad leadership development with focused expertise in an area aligned to your career ambitions. It helps give your MBA additional direction while retaining the full breadth and value of the MBA qualification.
Will choosing a pathway increase my workload?
No. You'll study the same number of modules regardless of whether you choose a pathway. A pathway changes the focus of your learning rather than increasing the amount of study required.
What kind of support will I receive?
From application through to graduation, you'll have access to dedicated support teams, academic guidance and learning resources. The programme is designed to help students balance study alongside professional and personal commitments while building confidence throughout their learning journey.
Is an online MBA respected by employers?
Yes. You'll graduate with an MBA awarded by Aston University and delivered by Aston Business School, one of a select group of business schools worldwide to hold triple accreditation from AACSB, EQUIS and AMBA. This internationally recognised benchmark reflects the quality of the school's teaching, research and student experience. Combined with a practical, professionally focused curriculum, the MBA is designed to help you develop the strategic, commercial and leadership capabilities valued by employers across a wide range of industries.
What career outcomes does this MBA support?
Graduates commonly use the MBA to support progression into leadership, management, consulting and strategic roles. Graduate outcomes include positions such as managing director, chief executive officer, finance director, director of transformation, head of operations and senior consultant.
What should I do next?
If you're considering whether an MBA is the right step for your career, speaking with an advisor is a great place to start. They can help you explore your goals, understand the programme structure and discuss how the MBA could support your future ambitions.
What can I learn from studying alongside other professionals?
One of the benefits of an MBA is learning alongside professionals from a wide range of industries, organisations and backgrounds. Through discussions, collaborative activities and shared experiences, you'll gain exposure to different perspectives, leadership approaches and business challenges. Many students find these interactions just as valuable as the formal curriculum, helping them broaden their understanding of how organisations operate and learn from the experiences of others.
